Shivas Irons Society
Accessibility For All

In pursuing its mission of providing opportunities for personal and social exploration, the Society is an advocate of increased access to golf for handicapped and minority populations.

Although there has been progress in recent years, many course remain inaccessible to those with physical and mental disabilities, or too expensive for all but the most affluent golfers.  The Society wants to help grow the game for all golfers and promote the development – or maintenance – of affordable public golf facilities.  This initiative is currently in need of leadership and committee members who are willing to invest their energy in making an impact.

For a wonderful commentary on the value of accessibility, we suggest you read Golfing Worlds of Splendor  by award-winning golf writer, Lorne Rubenstein.

Manuel De Los Santos... inspirational golf

Another inspirational golf story...

Tell Marty Turcios that you can't be perfect... and he asks, "Why not?" Obviously he knows how to avoid the quicksands of perfection.

"Changing My Mind" by Tom Ingalls

An honest and moving account of how a day on the links with Marty Turcios provided a transformative experience and an opportunity for one golfer to tear down a wall of indifference and fear that had taken a lifetime to build.
