From a catapillar... to a chrysalis... to a beautiful butterfly...

In almost every classroom you will find butterflies in different stages of their life cycle. The children all know that the hungry catapillars will form a chrysalis and while in that chrysalis will become a perfect, beautiful butterfly. It's expected, a known fact... they marvel at the beautiful colors of their drying wings and look forward to the day they fly.

But... sometimes things go wrong and a butterfly emerges with a damaged wing. Are they any less impressed, any less excited? No.

After a few days, they take their butterflies out to be released... Of the dozens set free, which butterfly do you think the kids cheer for the loudest? Would you cheer along? Join with a brilliant smile and laughter as they watch that beautiful, imperfect butterfly join the others in the sky?

Tiger Woods Made Me Cry

Over the last few months, the view from my desk has not always been pleasant.

Since the post of a column on our website regarding Tiger and the scandal surrounding him, I’ve watched as a man who has spent the last 18 years dedicated to the Society and its mission shed numerous tears of sorrow and of frustration.  I’ve seen him sit day after day rereading and rewriting while questioning his own actions, words, and beliefs.

Ask an accountant why he likes his job and the answer would probably be that they like numbers and money. Ask a doctor and the answer could be they like saving lives. But why would a non-golfer choose to sit behind a desk so cluttered at a Society promoting golf?
