Steve,
I have so longed to speak with you. i was in Belgium this summer for 3 weeks with Jonathan Horan who remembers you so fondly as some one he grew up with. He has grown into a wonderful teacher. I have been dancing with him for 20 years.

Golf is amazing and Letitia and Patty Fox are my dear friends. Letitia Quinn was one of the imaginary people who played golf with me in that foursome at Esalen....the first night that I took the Golf in the Kingdom Class...having never played a game of golf,I picked Letitia, who I imagined had always belonged to country clubs and must have known golf,a dead friend who probably could play with super natural powers now that he was dead, and Joe.

I later learned that Letitia, who was a brides maid in my wedding...had never played golf. I inspired her to take your class years later and the sweet Shivas cirle swung round....now Patty Fox tells me that you are not teaching at Esalen this year. But that you remember me.

I remember you as my dear teacher. I have played in women's tournaments and St. Andrews and by myself at 6 am and I love golf and hula hooping.

I am going to see Bogurt and Carol next week.

You look so grand in the video.

i am applying to teach a palm reading class at Esalen. They say it may take a while to process. Maybe you will be my student.???

Dear Steve, blessings from the here and now, sweet autumn in Kentucky and on the big dance floor of life!
Rebecca Henderson P.S. I am reading palms to benefit the Olmstead Parks Conservancy of Louisville where we have some lovely public golf courses within the parks designed by Frederick Law Olmstead.

As a 4th generation resident of S.F., I had the privledge of playing Harding two weeks ago--seeing it in its glory before the President's Cup. At the Opening ceremonies Mayor Gavin Newsom gave an eloquent welcome--to the World! He applied the analogy of the Bay Area as an international melting pot, exemplifying the togetherness we extend to each other--which the President's Cup is doing for golf in many different continents and countries.

The announcement of golf reaching true World wide athletic stature to now be included in the Olympics also shows how our sport is reaching "every man (and woman)."

The Cup also provided over $1.0 million in direct benefit to the City, First Tee program--and untold value to the tourism and business communities. Even our home town NBC analyst Johnny Miller extolled the virtues of the City and our rich golf history frequently during the broadcast.

My hope, being involved to some extent in City government, is that the current and future "powers that be" will recognize all of these attributes--and the enduring value of keeping Harding--and Lincoln and Sharp Park--as thriving recreational venues.

Steve--thanks for providing these opportunities for comment.

There were volunteers at Harding seeking donations to help save Sharp Park,
an Alister Mac Kenzie jewel. To donate or for more information please visit sfpublicgolf.com.

Steve,
Thanks for the commentary on Harding Park. I played it over the holidays last December for the first time since 1968. Found it to be excellent and a good value for my $110 out of state greens fee, even with rented clubs and no golf shoes. On our latest trip we had a wonderful lunch in the tasteful yet understated clubhouse with a great view of Lake Merced.
