Erin Hills Golf Club
hosting "Woman's Amateur Publinx" this week—

The 2008 Women's Amateur Public Links Championship is being held this week (June 16-21) at Erin Hills Golf Course in Erin Hills, Wisconsin.

Now is the time to register for our own annual gala event at Erin Hills to be held on July 21st.

A great opportunity to play and have a grand day at a future US Amateur and likely US Open Venue. Introduce some friends to the Society. SIS president Steve Cohen and several SIS board members will be in attendance.

Register For Erin Hills Here.

INTERESTING ERIN HILLS FACTS:
The architects actually built 19 holes at Erin Hills, leaving an extra hole as a way for players to settle ties without ever having to go back to the first tee. That extra hole will be used for the WAPL as the USGA decided to not play the par-3 seventh hole, which features a blind tee shot. The seventh was designed after the Dell hole at Lahinch (No. 6) in southwest Ireland and features a large dune that protects the green. At Erin, just as at Lahinch, a rock is placed at the top of the dune to show where the flagstick resides. The architects also designed a Biarritz Green* at the par-five 10th.

*SIS Contest: Be the first member to send us the correct definition of a "Biarritz Green" and receive a nice prize—the first ten responses will receive an engraved SIS ball mark. Everyone with the correct answer will receive a gift. Send your answer to Jo@shivas.org. Put Biarritz in the subject line.

Do You Trust Your Swing?

CONNECTIONS is intended to promote the exchange of information between members in all geographic areas and in transcendent and synchronistic ways. It is a forum for reporting on past events, announcing upcoming ones, seeking assistance, and connecting with others.

We wish to generate discussion on local, regional, national, international and inter-dimensional levels. Our inspiration comes from a poster labeled “Dangerous Connections” that Shivas Irons revealed to Michael Murphy in Golf in the Kingdom. Like the philosophers and their inventions on that poster, we are all connected in a deep, mysterious, and intriguing way.
Along with our website and The Journal of the Shivas Irons Society we shall continue to bring you feature articles, in-depth reflections and stories from members and other writers, past and present.

Please make the “Connection” and let us know what is going on with YOU and the group in your area, however large or small. Submit pictures, experiences, comments or questions to CONNECTIONS@shivas.org.
