The Art and Literature of the Game
The Journal of The Shivas Irons Society is a unique, collector-quality publication showcasing all the creative arts inspired by the game of golf. In each issue, you’ll find contributions from outstanding writers, artists and photographers – new and renowned – from around the world.
The four completed issues of The Journal feature content such as original and historical writing, commentary and criticism, and dialogues, profiles and interviews. Original and historical artworks include golf illustration, photography, memorabilia and cartoons.
Like the Shivas Irons Society, The Journal draws inspiration from Michael Murphy's classic novel Golf in the Kingdom. But just as the Society has forged its own identity with its contributions to the game of golf, The Journal offers a diversity of perspectives that can deepen readers' experience of the game.
We’re extremely proud of the widespread acclaim and critical success of The Journal. Although economic realities have forced a temporary suspension of publication, we remain committed to the idea of making fine art and literature available to thoughtful golfers everywhere.
Traditional Publishing Meets New Technology
To honor our commitment and to move forward we’re very pleased to announce the launch of The Digital Anthology of The Journal of the Shivas Irons Society.*
The Digital Anthology is a 25-page electronic publication that offers brief excerpts from the four printed versions of The Journal and links to the related articles on the Society website. The Anthology is formatted specifically for viewing on an iPad or other tablet computer and is also navigable on standard browsers.
For those that haven’t experienced The Journal, The Digital Anthology will be a great introduction to the high-quality writing, art and design that distinguishes this quality publication. Share it with your friends and fellow golfers. We are certain many will want to add the complete print editions to their own collection of golf memorabilia.
(You can share the Anthology by email or various social media from directly inside the electronic publication. Click Here or on the image to access the Anthology.)
Thank you to all who have contributed their time, creative efforts or financial support to get us as far as we have... We have enjoyed the process, have absolutely no regrets and look forward to what the future may bring.
*A special thank you to Nick Green and the crew at Macduff Consulting for the creation of The Digital Anthology of the Shivas Irons Society.
Sale and distribution of the first four issues of The Journal will continue as long as there is inventory available...
